Ace space saturday - of a different kind...

Sigh. It's raining today in Sydney. Again. And my two little monsters are a little cabin feverish. They aren't giving me much of a chance to write up a post, so instead I've decided to turn our living area into an Ace Space (of sorts) to keep them occupied and perhaps use up some of their abundant energy.

I found this idea on Pinterest this week and it really is quite brilliant. It's kept these guys busy for a good 40 minutes (and in their world that's a lifetime). Simply cut up a bunch of squares out of bubble wrap (we just happened to have some in the laundry from a recent delivery), and tape them to the floor with masking tape. Voila! Instant Bubblewrap Hopscotch! They think it's an Ace Space - and that's all that matters today.

Bring the tent indoors

Brrrrr it's cold in Sydney this morning! A perfect day for this idea...

I find my boys love things that aren't quite the way they're supposed to be. They find it riotously funny to wear odd socks, run backwards, eat ice cream from a cup - and pitching a tent in the living room falls quite safely into that category. With all the rain we've been having it actually seems to be a worthwhile idea...

Make some mud cupcakes...

So after a rainy Easter loooong weekend it's back to work tomorrow for me. And while hubby's still on holiday's I'm leaving him at home in charge of kiddo entertainment. This is the idea I've left him with to make the most of our muddy garden... I've assured him of a good hour of play and another one to clean up the mess afterwards! Heheh...
For a twist on the ever popular mud pie creation activity  - try pulling out some baking equipment (don't worry, a bit of detergent will get it back to cooking condition afterwards). Give them a cupcake tray and some patty pan cases and let them get creative with whatever's available in the garden to decorate!

Top notch setups

Boxes, buckets, sheets and bins... Who'd have thought you could make these gems?!!!

Indoor play on a rainy day

I would have loved this! In fact, I think I'd still love this! My maternal sensibilities are screaming for better judgement, but I might just have to give it a try.... after all, our stairs are only five steps from top to bottom. Maybe when my husband isn't home....
