Nina Proudman - Steal her style

If you cast your mind back to here a few weeks ago when we were talking pressed metal panels and their many uses - inspired by Sophie & Dale - you might also remember my confession that Offspring is yet another of my favourite places to visit in TV land. Soooo, you can imagine my oohs and ahhs when I came across Wee Birdy's post yesterday Get the look of Nina's apartment from Offspring! Rebecca (aka Wee Birdy) has absolutely nailed this one. Even down to the candles... Pictures below, but you have to hop over here for the lowdown of where to actually get it (because as much as I wish I'd thought of it myself, I didn't - WB did...)

I found this image over at A Perfect Grey and it reminds me so much of my grandmothers bedroom. My grandmother was the epitome of the italian nonna. She was short, round, soft and gently creased with a magical touch in the kitchen. I never imagined growing up that one day I'd find her style so lovely and desirable, but this image evokes many wonderful memories of her - her smells, her laugh, her perfume, her trinkets and jewels... So warm and comforting. And so so stylish!

Kitchen of my dreams

This kitchen is pure delight. So many things to love! I adore the mix of timbers and finishes, all the natural materials - stone flooring meets timber counter and the stone feature wall - even the hemp market basket has leather handles! The designer has struck the perfect balance between contemporary and vintage. And the old milk jug filled with wild flowers is a divine touch of style. Is there anything not to like here? This little space and I would be very happy together... Very happy indeed. Filing this one under "forever house reno ideas" for future reference.

Style it up - Gorgeous Gift Wrap!

Hello gorgeous wrapping! When I first saw this I thought "So pretty but who'd have the time?" I was suitably surprised to see it's actually not that hard. I'm keeping this one in mind for mothers day...

Materials: 

1-2 yards of ribbon in various tones, about 2″-3″ in width

Miscellaneous material, such as burlap, knit sweaters, etc…

Twine

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Cut several pieces of ribbon in 3″-5″ increments, depending upon desired size of your finished pom. Do the same with material, sweaters and burlap.

2. Make a large stack, alternating each color and type of material. Using your twine, tie a very tight knot around the center of the entire stack.

3. Cut your ribbon into smaller strips, keeping the center uncut. Separate and pull strips apart to make your completed pom!
