The perfect teenagers retreat

While I don't have any teenagers myself just yet (cue sigh of relief), I do remember a thing or two about what I wanted when I was one, and this space is pretty much it. The late 60's design Eero Aarnio Bubble Chairs are the centrepiece of the rooms which are divided by a sliding door system that can be slung wide open for social moments and closed up for private study. Genius.

Walk-in robes keep untidiness well hidden, and the loft area creates an additional level of privacy for temperamental teens. Even the grumpiest teenager would have to admit that this is one pretty amazing design...

One of the things I love most about the internet is that through accessibility to design, it gives everyday people confidence to think outside their own square and dare to create something wonderful. Kitchen of my dreams

This kitchen is pure delight. So many things to love! I adore the mix of timbers and finishes, all the natural materials - stone flooring meets timber counter and the stone feature wall - even the hemp market basket has leather handles! The designer has struck the perfect balance between contemporary and vintage. And the old milk jug filled with wild flowers is a divine touch of style. Is there anything not to like here? This little space and I would be very happy together... Very happy indeed. Filing this one under "forever house reno ideas" for future reference.

Like a torpedo!

Check out these totally gorgeous torpedo scooters designed by Jerry Koza over at Prague Art & Design.  At $1100 big ones though, these puppies won't be turning up on too many footpaths I'm sure. Pity, the design and paintjob are completely wonderful. 

Finders Keepers Wrap Up

Hurray! I did manage to sneak away from the fam over the weekend to check out the Finders Keepers Market after all! And I'm glad I did because it was "tops"! Here are my favourite finds...

1. Puddin'head

Gorgeous hand printed linens by Richard McAdam, sold as is or stretched onto canvas or made into cushions. Really loved these hand embroidered versions below.  Check out the site here.

3. Two Layers of Cells

Limited edition lighting designs by Jane Crappsley. So many cool ideas! But the best one of all had to be the DIY Lightwrap Kit (below). It comes with all the elements, including the textas, for your kiddo (or you if you like) to draw and colour your own uniquely you design onto your lightshade. Genius! 4. Page Thirty Three

Last but not least, PG33. How divine is the jigsaw puzzle piece plate? And yes, the plates to fit together, so you can run three in a row as a platter or just get cosy with the one you sit beside at the next dinner party... Gives new meaning to sharing a plate huh? How much would kids love this? A mini door for your mini me... German company, minjjoo's small door is an interior door with an integrated smaller one that allows kids to access their own space and gives them a bit of ownership in a big world... cute! 

Dutch by design

We spent New Years with our Dutch friends and their delicious little boy, Rik, this year, and I was so impressed with their pram I had a dig around to see if they were available here. To my utter amazement (I'm so used to being jarred by stylish European brands and their un-availability here) they are! The brand is Joolz, I'd never heard of them before (maybe you have?), and they're like a nicer version of the Bugaboo (possibly just nicer to me because I'd never seen them before and Bugaboos are everywhere now). Anyway, enough talk, here's what they look like...

And how about this design?!!! Another company out of the Netherlands, Taga have been awarded gazillions of design awards for this little number. They call it a multi-functional urban vehicle. And what doesn't it do I ask you? I think it's awesome but a little scary....
