And the winner is...

Betony! Congratulations Betony! You are the proud new owner of a stunning Mad Men-esque style silk blouse by Laurence Pasquier thanks to the gorgeous girls at Pretty Dog!

Clever bread and the funky lunch!

They'll never say "sandwiches are boring" again after this lot hit the table! I think I love the pig the most - though, Charlie and Lola are so exactly Charlie and Lola!

Etsy find! No more library fines!

This is a great Etsy find. If you're anything like me, you aren't the local library's favourite borrower. At the moment for instance, we're on our third notice for an Astro Boy DVD that I can't for the life of me remember to put in my bag when I'm leaving the house! Well, this could solve all that...

For only four bucks you can get one from here. And, sneaky sneaky, it's a PDF file that is sent to you, so once you have it you can gift it to your friends who are also on the library blacklist!

Hanging out in mum's room...

Those first few weeks or months when baby first comes home from hospital are golden (in hindsight at least...). And it can be easier to have your new bundle of joy right next to you when you do get some sleep, but sometimes space just doesn't allow for a full size cot or even a bassinette, and we all know what the midwives say about bedsharing.... Here's a solution that isn't just clever, it's stylish too!

Quick Creation: Bookmark Corner

Cute huh? Much nicer than a "dog-ear" creased up corner...
Make one from coloured paper, or even felt!

Before & After: Teen room OR How to get a teenager to keep their room tidy

It doesn't take much to lift a room. This makeover shows how a simple clearout and the addition of a few stylish pieces can create a complete transformation! Not much heavy elbow grease required for most of these changes and the result is great. I have a theory too, that a makeover like this - particularly for a teenager - can be the catalyst required for them to take a bit of pride in their environment and want to keep it tidy....

The world for your bedroom wall

Using a world map as a feature wall in a kids space is such a huge trend at the moment - and why not? It's striking, sophisticated and educational! If it had been the thing to do when I was a youngster I might have done better in geography! Here's some great examples of how well it can work.

If you want to do a world map feature wall for your little ones room, they have a great version at Urban Outfitters (who often do free international shipping specials). Have a look here...

Etsy find! Sweet, sweet Syko

Oh my, look what I've found! Gorgeous, gorgeous, handmade treasures from Etsy store, Syko. Based in Helsinki, owner, Kasja Wikman is a full time, published producer of folk-style illustration, wall art and softies for kids and don't we love her stuff!? Every piece is lovingly appliqued and embroidered by hand and the delicately detailed little houses come in a set of 10 so little ones can build cities and play with them for hours. Best part is each piece is unique as they're all handmade by Kasja herself! Check out Kasja's store, book and blog too!

Before & After: Lovely Wardrobe

Bunk love: Part 3

What a great and stylish way to get a shared space to work! This appeals to my taste double time in my favourite colour combo as well! Apparently dad built the beds and hung them himself and they were tested for strength by mum jumping on them...

The silver metal bunk option has never appealed to me but this space has a definite boy feel to it and the palette again is just lovely.

Any boy would love this wouldn't they? Imagine having your own climbing wall in your room! And the punching bag is a great way to get them to vent those hormone surges without damaging the house or their sibs. He'd be most popular boy in school for sure...

This suspended slab looks great but I have no idea how it stays there! I'd be scared I'd find pancake people in the morning! And those walls scream "invitation to draw on the walls" to me. Childbirth makes us so sensible and boring doesn't it?

Before & After: Cleverest repurpose ever!

I've shown you some pretty radical transformations in our Before and After series so far, but this takes the cake! (and the kitchen too!)

Wonderful Wisdom

I love this story. I want to tell it to my boys when they're older...
An elderly Cherokee Native American was teaching his grandchildren about life… He said to them, “A fight is going on inside me, it is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One wolf is evil—he is fear, anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, competition, superiority, and ego. The other is good—he is joy, peace, love, hope, sharing, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, friendship, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith. This same fight is going on inside you, and inside every other person, too.” They thought about it for a minute, and then one child asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win, Grandfather?” The Elder simply replied, “The one you feed.”

Bedroom of my dreams...

It's been a while since a picture took my breath away, but these two just did.
What do you think? Could you live with peeling paint on your bedhead?
I could certainly live with that chandelier hanging over my head...
